Collabhouse splits your account into two layers: a public profile that anyone on the internet can read, and private account details that only you (and our support team) can see. This article explains where the line sits, and how to move things across it.
Quick answer
Anything you can see on your public artist page — your name, photo, bio, links, listed tracks — is visible to the entire internet, including search engines. Anything under Settings → Account (email, password, address, date of birth, consent choices) is private. The Profile visibility switch in Settings → Account controls whether your profile shows up in community search and discovery; turning it off doesn't hide a profile you've already linked publicly.
The two layers, in plain English
Public profile (your artist page) — Think of this as a free website we host for you at
collabhouse.com/profile/<your-handle>. Every field on it is internet-visible. If you type it into your bio, paste it into a link, upload it as your header image, or feature a track — it's public. Search engines can index it. Fans can screenshot it. Don't put anything there you wouldn't put on a billboard.Private account data — Your sign-in email, password, address, date of birth, timezone, marketing-consent choices, and AI-personalization settings live here. We use them to run your account, send you receipts, and follow privacy law. They are never shown on your public page and never shared with other artists or fans.
The split is deliberate: it lets you have a public-facing presence without putting your inbox and street address out in the open.
Step-by-step
Edit your public profile
Tap your avatar to open Profile.
You're already in Edit mode by default. Tap any section (bio, links, details, music) to open its editor.
Anything you save here goes live on your public artist page within seconds. Toggle to View mode with the bottom floating switch to see exactly what visitors see.
Edit your private account details
Go to Settings → Account.
Update your Email, Timezone, Password, or other private fields.
These changes never appear on your public page.
Hide yourself from community search
Go to Settings → Account.
Find Profile visibility and turn off the Show me in community search and discovery switch.
Other Collabhouse users will no longer find you in member search, suggested artists, or the Community surface.
Important: visibility ≠ takedown
Turning off the visibility switch hides you from Collabhouse search. It does not delete your public artist page or remove it from Google. If someone has the direct link to your page, they can still open it. To fully take down a public page, see article 11.4 on deleting your account.
Why it works this way
A musician's profile only does its job if fans, blogs, and playlisters can find and link to it without signing up. That means it has to live on the open internet — same as a website. But the rest of your account is genuinely private (email, password, address, consents) and we keep it that way by storing it separately and never exposing it on your public page. The two layers don't mix.
Common problems
I added something to my bio I want to take back — Open Profile → Edit mode, tap the bio, edit or clear the text, and save. The change goes live immediately, but cached copies on third-party sites or in Google may linger.
I turned off Profile visibility but my page still loads — That's expected. The switch hides you from internal search, not from the public URL. Use account deletion if you need the page gone.
My email changed on Account but not on my public profile — Good — your email isn't on your public profile. It's private and only visible to you.
Someone else is using my name — Contact support from Settings → Help & support.
