How do I create AI artwork for my release?

For: Releasing artists and label managers
You’ll need: A release you can edit and an idea for your cover
Time: A few minutes to set up your idea; generation time varies

Written by Collabhouse Support

Create cover artwork inside your release flow. Choose the look, describe your idea, and preview the result before you use it.

Quick answer

In your release’s Artwork section, select Select from library, then Generate with AI. Follow the three steps: Pick the vibe, Main idea, and Add text. Select Generate, review the image, and select Keep. Then choose the saved image from your library to use it as your release cover.

Step-by-step

1. Open the artwork generator

Open your release and go to the Artwork section. Select Select from library, then Generate with AI.

2. Pick the vibe

Choose a mood, a visual style, a color palette, or a combination of these. Select at least one option to continue. For example, combine Dreamy, Illustrated, and Pastel for a soft, illustrated cover. Select Next.

3. Describe your main idea

In Main subject, describe what you want the cover to show. This field is required. Be specific: “A lone astronaut standing in a field of pink flowers” gives more direction than “space.” Open Extra details if you want to add instructions about lighting, the background, or composition. This is optional. Select Next.

4. Add text, if you want it

Enter the words you want on the cover in Artwork title, or leave this field empty for artwork without text. Keep the text short. AI can produce incorrect letters or spelling, so check every word in the preview.

5. Generate your artwork

Select Generate. A progress indicator appears while your artwork is created. Wait for the preview before you decide whether to use it.

6. Review the result

Check the subject, colors, details, and any text. Select Generate new to create another version with the same choices. To change your idea, select Back, adjust your choices, and generate again. Select Keep when you want to use the result.

7. Choose it as your release cover

After you select Keep, you return to the library. Select your generated image to add it to the release. Check the cover preview in the Artwork section before you continue with the rest of your release.

Why it works this way

The guided steps turn your choices into a description for the AI. You do not need to write a long instruction from scratch. The preview lets you check the result before you choose it as your cover. Creating artwork does not submit your release or mean that the cover is approved.

Tips for a stronger cover

  • Start with one clear idea. A simple subject is easier to recognize when the cover appears as a small thumbnail.

  • Match the look to your music. Use mood, style, and color to support the feeling of your release.

  • Check text carefully. If the spelling is wrong, try a shorter title or generate a version without text.

  • Review before you submit. AI artwork still needs to meet the artwork requirements shown in your release. Avoid logos, URLs, social handles, or material you do not have permission to use.

Common problems

  • Next is unavailable — In Pick the vibe, select at least one mood, style, or palette. In Main idea, enter a Main subject.

  • The result does not match my idea — Select Back and make your description more specific. Add Extra details if needed, or change the style or palette.

  • The words on the cover are wrong — AI text is not always accurate. Use less text or leave Artwork title empty and generate again.

  • Generation fails — Try again. If the problem continues, contact support.

  • I selected Keep, but my release cover has not changed — Keep returns you to the library. Select the generated image there to apply it to your release.
